Fortnite x South Park date confirmed as Epic Games preps for GTA 6 | Gaming | Entertainment

Fortnite players have some new content to get their teeth into at last. Having waited for a new update from Epic Games since before the festive season, there is finally some news on the Battle Royale shooter.

Following the Winterfest event, those yearning for fresh content will be thrilled to learn it’s on the way. The upcoming Fortnite update is set to drop this week. And to make matters better, it features a colossal new crossover deserving of its own exclusive season.

As per Fortnite insider Hypex, Epic Games is planning to roll out a South Park crossover this Friday. The introduction of the South Park content is slated to follow the release of update 39.20, due on January 9 across PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile platforms, reports the Mirror.

The news was confirmed in a post on X, formerly Twitter, by Epic Games who showed off a brief teaser warning players to expect “chaos”.

It remains uncertain whether the South Park skins will be immediately available for purchase post-update, or if they’ll be part of the first item shop refresh after the update.

The South Park crossover is rumoured to incorporate numerous character skins from the popular animated series, along with various mythics and items potentially affecting the storm.

There’s also chatter about a Chainsaw Man crossover, anticipated to launch at some point during the current season.

On the topic of significant release dates, the forthcoming Fortnite seasons have been scheduled for the next year. Fortnite Chapter 7, Season 2 is projected to kick off on March 5, followed by Season 3 on April 30.

Interestingly, Fortnite Chapter 8 is tentatively set to commence on November 28, just a week or so following the launch of GTA 6 on November 19. Perhaps an ambitious new crossover could be in the works?

Time will tell, but for now we can but dream of a Fortnite x GTA event.
