Hallmark fans name Christmas films that are ‘so bad you have to watch’ | Films | Entertainment
Nothing says Christmas more than sitting on the couch with a hot chocolate, snacks and a festive film. Downtime is very important during Christmas time, especially with how busy the time of year can be with events and parties.
Watching a film with family and friends can be a great way to casually catch up and relax, but it can be difficult to pick a festive film to watch due to everyone having a different opinion on what is classed as a good Christmas film.
Some classics like The Holiday, Elf and The Grinch Who Stole Christmas are crowd-pleasers, but even choosing a film such as Die Hard can be controversial.
That being said, Hallmark fans have named their worst Christmas films claiming some of them are “so bad you have to watch” them. The list included some of Netflix‘s new releases for 2025 along with some classics.
Out of the four new Netflix Christmas films released this year, My Secret Santa, Jingle Bell Heist, Champagne Problems and A Merry Ex-Mas, one film critic said she would only rewatch one of them. The critic wasn’t the only one who agreed, with Hallmark fans on Netflix agreeing that both Champagne problems and My Secret Santa were “so bad they were good”.
On a Reddit thred where a user asked for “The worst Hallmark/Holiday Movie Recommendations”, one person replied: “My Secret Santa. It’s about a single mom who can’t afford her daughter snowboarding college tuition, and has to dress up like Santa to get a job lol.
“Think Mrs. Doubtfire, but with a woman set in Xmas.”
Another user simply said: “Champagne Problems”, but was confronted by a fellow user who said they “loved” the film. They said: “I loooved this! I’m going to Paris for a work trip in February and thought ‘wow it would be nice for this to happen to me while I’m there’. Not the falling in love part, happily married, but the drinking delicious wine at a snowed in chalet part.”
Another person suggested: “A Snow Globe Christmas is wild! But the leads (Alicia Witt, Donald Faison) are so likable that you don’t really get annoyed, you just laugh at how ridiculous it is.”
A fourth person reccomended Holiday in Handcuffs a 2007 American crime comedy television film. The user said: “Omg Holiday in Handcuffs (if you were born in the eighties or nineties) is kind of a must…”
Another person replied: “Holiday in Handcuffs is soooo ridiculous. Definitely a good choice lol.”
