Die Hard fans ‘mind blown’ after error is found in Christmas film | Films | Entertainment
Regarding Christmas films, Die Hard remains a firm favourite for countless viewers, despite ongoing debates about whether it truly qualifies as a festive classic. Regardless of where you stand on that argument, devotees of the action-packed thriller are now being urged to pay close attention to a particular detail.
It’s taken several decades for audiences to spot what appears to be a significant “error” in the film, leaving Bruce Willis fans utterly stunned. After all these years, viewers are discovering moments where things seem to go awry, potentially changing how you experience the movie from now on.
The subject recently surfaced on TikTok, where Kristian, operating as the One Minute Critic online, highlighted some notable blunders in the beloved action film. This isn’t the first Die Hard revelation to leave fans astonished either.
In his video, Kristian explained: “This movie, without a doubt, is near the top of my favourite movies of all time list, but that doesn’t mean there are no mistakes in it. The first one is kind of a blink and you’ll miss it moment.
“It comes when John McClane first arrives to Nakatomi tower. He goes to the front desk to check in.”
He added: “While searching the touch screen directory, he finds his wife is using her maiden name, spelt Gennaro but, when he touches it, it changes colour, and the spelling also changes to Gennero. How weird is that?
“The next mistake comes as Hans Gruber and company arrive at Nakatomi tower in a large moving truck. When they exit out of the back, you can see it’s completely empty. Only terrorists are in there.
“But, come to find out later in the movie, somehow there’s an entire ambulance in the back. Where did that come from? You couldn’t see anything inside the truck earlier, and suddenly there’s an entire ambulance.”
Whilst this appears to be quite a significant oversight, Kristian highlighted yet another error shortly afterwards. As the criminals head towards the building, a further continuity issue emerges.
One gang member looks as though he’s about to collide with a wall, with the footage seemingly cutting away just in time. It’s believed the filmmakers preferred the visual of the group walking side by side rather than in single file, which explains why they chose to keep it in.
On a personal note, Kristian particularly enjoys the sequence where Bruce Willis’s character, John McClane, tries to rescue the hostages from the rooftop. When McClane leaps from the building to dodge gunfire, Kristian claims it’s obvious he’s sporting “fake feet”.
They resemble miniature boots, and are plainly visible in the footage. This is something he finds personally “hilarious”, despite his enduring affection for the film.
Following its release online, the video has racked up thousands of views, with viewers rushing to share their reactions. Numerous fans were astonished they’d failed to notice one specific detail previously.
One viewer expressed their surprise, stating: “The fake feet is a new one for me. Now I’m starting to wonder if any of it was real.” Another chimed in with: “Those foot boots blew my mind. I’ve honestly watched this so many times.”
A third added: “Love finding movie mistakes and unrealistic scenes.” Meanwhile, a fourth confessed: “Wow. I never knew any of these.”
Another fan joined the conversation, saying: “Wow, never thought about it. My favourite movie ever.” However, another had strong opinions, declaring: “Your first mistake is that it’s not a Christmas movie. Fact.”
