EasyJet launches new flights from UK to charming winter destination in Europe | Travel News | Travel
A budget airline has launched its first flights from a Scottish airport to a city in the heart of the Austrian Alps. The inaugural easyJet flight from Edinburgh to Innsbruck took off yesterday (December 8).
It will now operate every Sunday, offering tourists a convenient connection to the vibrant Alpine city. While Innsbruck is known for its proximity to world-famous ski resorts, the city itself is a destination rich in culture and history. Its charming old town is full of narrow cobbled streets, colourful facades, and bustling cafés, with highlights including the iconic Golden Roof and the imposing Imperial Palace.
The city is also home to the world-renowned Swarovski Crystal Worlds, offering a sparkling glimpse into Austria’s craftsmanship. During the holiday season, the streets are bustling with vibrant Christmas markets. With a perfect mix of alpine scenery, cultural attractions, and historic charm, Innsbruck promises an unforgettable getaway for travellers of all interests.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, said: “Our new service from Edinburgh to Innsbruck offers our customers a convenient link to one of Europe’s most charming Alpine cities.
“As the largest airline in Scotland, we continue to offer our customers greater choice and exceptional value across our unrivalled short-haul network and, in our 30th year, we remain committed to making travel easy.”
This announcement follows easyJet’s launch of three new services between the UK and France: Paris to Aberdeen, Toulouse to London, Grenoble to Birmingham, and Strasbourg to Manchester.
The airline also launched eight flights not offered by any other airline, including routes between Nantes and Budapest in Hungary and Lyon and Pristina in Kosovo.
EasyJet kicked off flights to two new destinations from Bristol Airport in October. EasyJet began its flights to Munich in Germany and Zurich in Switzerland on October 26 and 29, respectively.
The airline is also introducing a direct route from Manchester to Ljubljana, Slovenia, twice a week. Another route to the Slovenian city will launch in Edinburgh next year.
