I write romantic comedies—you need to read these 10 festive romance books | Books | Entertainment

With the weather growing ever chillier and the supermarkets filling up with all things Christmas, there’s no better time to get into the festive spirit. Putting your tree up, eating some pigs in blankets and visiting a Christmas market are all great ways to ease yourself into December.

If you’re a book lover, you might also fancy reading a wintery romance novel to help get you in the Christmas mood. Luckily, author Chloe Ford has shared her top reading recommendations for the festive period. She said: “Looking for something to get you in the festive, wintery mood? Here is a list of ten books I recommend which promise to have you swooning, laughing and most importantly, feeling merry! So grab a hot beverage of choice, curl up in a warm blanket and get started on these wonderful wintery reads.”

1. Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh

“A planes, trains and automobiles romcom where two friends must find their way home to Ireland from Chicago while a freak storm ruins all their plans. The ultimate feel-good romantic Christmas romcom that will have you desperately turning the pages. Probably one of the funniest books I’ve ever read!”

2. It Won’t Be Christmas Without You by Beth Reekles

“A short but delicious one! Packed full of real British humour and festive nostalgia.”

3. Look Up, Handsome – Jack Strange

“A heartwarming festive story set in snowy Hay-on-Wye. A bookshop in jeopardy, a gorgeous famous author on the scene and a cosy backdrop. What more can you ask for?”

4. Make You Mine This Christmas by Lizzie Huxley-Jones

“Lizzie Huxley-Jones writes some of the best wit. This Christmassy romcom will bring you so much joy, laughter and a heartwarming feeling.”

5. The Takedown by Carlie Walker

“Want a Christmas romcom featuring spies and criminals? Look no further! This action-packed romcom will have you on the edge of your seat. And there’s a Christmas wedding. What more could you ask for?”

6. In A Holidaze by Christina Lauren

“Groundhog Day but at Christmas? Lifelong crushes? Snowy cabin? Count me in. This romcom is lighter than some of Christina Lauren’s usuals but it is the perfect festive romp that will leave you feeling all gooey!”

7. Eight Perfect Hours by Lia Louis

This one packs an emotional punch, but the main characters meet in the snowiest of circumstances and the chemistry is off the charts. Highly recommend!

8. It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas by Hayley Dunlop

“Love Hallmark movies? This is the one for you. What if the answer to your problems is to literally act out a Hallmark plot in the cute town you grew up in?”

9. Unromance by Erin Connor

“A witty, wintery novel that is for the romance connoisseurs. A romance writer meets a heartbroken actor and must ruin love for him, testing all the most beloved tropes as they go – what could go wrong? Special mention goes to the flirty Christmas tree shopping experience.”

10. House Party by Chloe Ford

“I wrote this one, so I’m biased but as a New Year’s Day baby myself I wanted to explore characters who share this experience and see the NYE in every year together. And in the words of Annabelle Monaghan, ‘A slow burn romance with multi-layered characters and sizzling chemistry, House Party left me absolutely breathless. Clear your schedule to read this in a single sitting.’”

Chloe Ford is the author of British-set romantic comedies. Her latest book, House Party, is a new swoonworthy rom-com set on New Year’s Eve. Follow her on Instagram for everything romance reading and writing.
