Wicked For Good running time explained | Films | Entertainment

Wicked: For Good has a running time of 2 hours and 17 minutes, considerably longer than the stage musical. Whilst based on the Broadway production, the film includes additional content for audiences, featuring new musical numbers, a wedding ceremony and flashback scenes.

This represents a shorter duration than the first instalment, which clocked in at 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Despite sharing similarities and differences with the source material, audiences will encounter an unexpected final revelation.

Drawing significant parallels with The Wizard of Oz, Wicked For Good concludes with Elphaba discovering love with Fiyero as they both escape Oz, whilst Glinda remains convinced they have perished.

As she departs, Elphaba declares: “I wish Glinda could know we’re alive, but she can’t. No one can ever know.”

Following subsequent events, Glinda ascends to the throne of Oz. Despite Glinda’s belief that Elphaba is dead, the film hints at the possibility of Elphaba being alive somewhere, sparking speculation among fans about a potential third instalment.

The film does not feature an end credit scene, leaving fans speculating about the possibility of a third instalment.

While there has been no official confirmation of a third release, fans are hopeful, particularly given the way the latest film concluded.

One person wrote on social meda: “There needs to be a Part 3. Glinda eventually finding out that Fiyero and Elphaba is still alive, Elphaba finding out that Madame Morrible killed Nessarose, maybe a heroic sacrifice on Elphaba or Glinda’s end.”

Wicked: For Good is available to watch in cinemas now.
