Boden shoppers heap praise on ‘very cosy’ cord dress

Corduroy is a trend that hasn’t really gone out of fashion due to its versatility. Its grown in popularity due to its tactile texture and has had a modern makeover with garments like pinafores.

Shoppers have found a cord dress from Boden that is ticking a few boxes for them, notably when it comes to being a good fit and they say it’s a good quality. The Amanda Cord Short Dress in chestnut is £99 on Boden, and also comes in a host of other trendy and versatile colours like midnight teal, navy, viola purple and for the very adventurous, Woodland Green, Leaping Tiger.

Crafted in stretch cotton corduroy, this dress is cut to skim just above the knee with a tailored fit and subtle utility detailing on the pockets and waist. It comes in petite, regular and long, and also ranges from sizes four through to 11. As it’s a new style, shoppers can get 10% off using the code C7R7, Boden says.

The burnt maroon hue gives it a timeless warmth, but is also on-trend, with burgundy and wine red being the colours of the season. It is machine washable and the stretch cord gives it great movability too. For styling, treat it as an elevated basic for an autumn/winter wardrobe, and pair it with everything from leather loafers to suede ankle boots.

For another cord look but with a few additions, New Look has the Gini London Plum Button Front Cord Mini Dress for £31.50, currently reduced from £42. This dress has embossed gold-tone buttons all the way down the front, and is a shorter length, with a collared neckline and side pockets.

At the higher end of the budget, White Stuff has the Lucy V Neck Cord Midi Dress in dark plum for £79. This dress is made with soft organic cotton and is a midi length. It’s a relaxed look, that goes perfectly with a pair of long boots.

Shoppers on Boden have been pleased with the colour of its cord dress, with one saying: “This dress is gorgeous, lovely wine colour, very cosy, fits like a glove so I hope it doesn’t shrink! Can’t wait to wear to work or date night with my hubs!”

The fit was a plus for another customer who said: “I bought this dress to wear to work/casually and it fits like a glove. Lovely quality and material. I went for the petite length as I’m 5 foot 4 and felt the length will be just perfect to wear with tights. Bought the green dress with tigers and also the chestnut colour. Don’t know how they will wash but I can’t wait to wear them.”

The quality pleased another buyer who said: “I bought this dress in the plum colour – size 6 petite. It is fantastic quality and excellent fit. The pockets on the back and the loops for a belt are a great addition to this cord dress as last years version does not have these details. Great quality in the fabric, style and cut. I have two of these dresses and would highly recommend them.”

One customer had an ask, explaining: “This dress fits true to size. I am 5’8 and 60kg. The 8 regular is ideal. I worried it would be too short but it’s a great length to wear with knee-high or ankle boots. Like the other comments, I wish it had a belt included. It has the loops but no belt. It feels like a good quality material. Nice navy colour. Very happy with my purchase.”

Someone else who has a previous iteration of the dress said: “Love this dress, which I also bought in last years version. This style is an improvement though with a slightly more fitted shape. Bought in midnight teal 8P length above the knee as in the picture. Delighted with the cord quality as usual.”
