‘Scariest ever’ horror on Amazon Prime has fans tuning in religiously | Films | Entertainment
During the colder months of the year, most people like to snuggle up with a good film, with horrors being a favourite choice for many. The genre continues to grip viewers as people can’t help but resist a fright, especially when it comes to spooky films.
However, horror fans have recently been raving about what’s been deemed one of the scariest horror movies of all time, and it’s a must-watch for sci-fi fans. As well as being totally haunting, the movie has been praised for featuring a number of great one liners and brilliant acting performances from stars such as Laurence Fishburne and Sam Neill, and it’s available to view on Amazon Prime.
It’s not the only horror film that’s been captivating viewers either. Just a few weeks ago, another movie buff listed the top five scariest films they’ve ever seen.
However, one movie recently came to people’s attention on Reddit, when a user said: “Event Horizon is a 10/10 horror film. A little slow to get going but, once the second half of the film starts, it turns into my favourite horror film of all time (my second being The Shining).
“It also has my favourite line in any horror film also. ‘Where we’re going, we won’t need eyes to see’, delivered perfectly by Sam Neill. Also Lawrence Fishburne is magnificent in this film. Highly, highly recommended if you haven’t seen it yet.”
The film may have been released back in 1997, but it’s still captivating viewers today. Set in 2047, the film follows the story of a crew of astronauts sent on a rescue mission after a missing spaceship, the Event Horizon, randomly appears in orbit around Neptune.
It’s later discovered a sinister force has come back with it. There are so many things that entices viewers as the film progresses, with fans talking about it nearly 30 years later, and some deeming it one of the “scariest ever.”
Many admitted they still “love” the film, with there being so many celebrated moments. They were quick to share their opinions after it was brought up on Reddit.
One person said: “Everything about this movie was well executed horror. The false ending is one of my favourite moments in any horror film.”
Another added: “It is one of the scariest sci-fi space horrors out there. Can’t believe all the additional footage got lost. It was gorier before editing, I read.”
A third replied: “I watch it every year for Halloween. There is currently a prequel comic that explores the voyage to the other side. Issue three comes out next week.”
Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “This is one of the best space movies ever. Agreed that it is a 10/10. Very few have gotten to this level.
“Alien and Aliens are up there as well. I wish we had more space horror. Event Horizon is amazing, the cast is perfect and Fishburne is great in everything he is in.”
Someone else also chimed in with: “One of the few horror movies I will re-watch religiously.” One more person also added: “Love this movie.
“Love showing it to people who haven’t seen it. Would love to see the series actually happen, but if not that’s ok. This movie was definitely ahead of its time.”
