PC gamers finally get iconic franchise on Xbox Game Pass | Gaming | Entertainment
Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Editions are finally available to play through Xbox Game Pass on PC. This means the iconic franchise can now be streamed on platforms other than console for the first time.
It comes after an unexplained delay with both games intended to launch on Microsoft‘s subscription service back in October. For whatever reason it never materialised, leaving PC players worried that both games would never arrive. But fear not, because the classics are available to play on Xbox Game Pass right now.
Those unfamiliar with the beloved titles should know they’re RPGs played from an isometric perspective where you can create your own character, travel across its fantastical lands, as well as complete quests, recruit companions, and fight your fair share of terrifying enemies.
Both Baldur’s Gate and Baldur’s Gate II were originally released in 1998 and 2000, respectively. The Enhanced Editions launched on Xbox in 2019 and boast improved visuals, a modernised User Interface (UI) and various expansion packs.
For the Achievement hunters among you, the games prove quite difficult to complete. Unlocking each and every one is expected to take an estimated 150 to 200 hours.
Their arrival on Game Pass comes as five games are scheduled to leave the service next week.
After recently getting rid of Return to Monkey Island, Metal Slug Tactics, and Jusant, a selection will follow suit on November 11 — that’s if the ‘Leaving Soon’ section is to be believed.
Football Manager 2024, Frostpunk, Spirittea, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and Blacksmith Master are all leaving.
Blacksmith Master comes as a bit of a surprise because it was only added on August 19. Given it was a day one release, many fans believe it may have been removed in error.
But it’s not all doom and gloom on Game Pass. Upcoming smash-hit arrivals include the soon-to-be released Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, which is scheduled to launch on November 14.
