Prince William makes unexpected appearance on Brazilian TV show | Royal | News
Prince William delighted royal fans with a surprise appearance on a Brazilian TV show ahead of the prestigious Earthshot Prize ceremony. The 43-year-old royal travelled to Rio de Janeiro, where he is set to present the environmental awards and deliver a speech at the upcoming COP30 climate summit.
The Earthshot Prize offers £1million across five categories each year to support groundbreaking projects combating the planet’s most urgent environmental issues. William has pledged to champion the initiative for a decade, with this year’s event marking the halfway point of his ambitious global campaign.
He is currently carrying out three full days of engagements and shared a heartfelt personalised video message with Luciano Huck, the broadcaster hosting this year’s awards ceremony.
The Prince filmed a warm selfie-style video message for Luciano Huck’s hit show, Domingão com Huck.
The host revealed that the Prince of Wales will feature as a special guest in an episode airing on Sunday, November 9. Looking sharp in a navy suit and tie, William smiled and said: “Hi Luciano, can’t wait to see you this week.”
The brief clip quickly went viral in Brazil, with royal fans praising William’s charm and approachable manner ahead of his highly anticipated visit.
He added: “Thank you so much for hosting the Earthshot Prize Awards on Wednesday. Can’t wait to see you there!’
William’s surprise guest appearance thrilled fans, with one person online: “Oh my god, oh my god!”
Huck made a brief speech introducing the future king ahead of the appearance – translated from Portuguese, he shared: “Prince William, the future King of England, son of Princess Diana and King Charles III, will be in Brazil next week.”
“He’s coming to Brazil to present an award called the Earthshot Prize, which celebrates sustainability projects around the world. And he’ll be on Domingão next Sunday. He’s part of our line-up. So, I asked him to send us a short video,” the host explained.
Yesterday, Prince William visited Rio’s iconic Sugarloaf Mountain, where he enjoyed panoramic views of Christ the Redeemer and received the keys to the city from Mayor Eduardo Paes.
He also spent time with local children involved in Terra FC, a sports-based organisation teaching environmental awareness and climate action through football.
