This £28 M&S knitted vest is the perfect autumn staple
Layering is a great way to keep warm in colder weather, and a knitted vest is a stylish way to do it. These versatile tops are all over the high street and Marks and Spencer has some great-value options. Our favourite? A cosy tank top that’s under £30.
This cable knit costs £28 and its crew neck makes it versatile enough to pair with everything from turtlenecks to collared shirts, but it can also be worn on its own. It also has a split hem, which gives enough room for layers underneath.
The vest comes in two shades – cream and an eye-catching green – and would look just as good worn over jeans and boots or a shirt dress for a preppier look. It’s made out of a breathable synthetic mix, with a touch of wool for warmth and a bit of stretch for extra comfort.
Online at M&S, shoppers are loving the vest, with one calling it “soft and comfy” and a second deeming it a “versatile buy… I will use it all year round. In winter with a shirt or polo neck underneath and in summer on its own”.
Another wrote: “I bought the cream as it’s a lovely neutral and will go well with lots of things. Looks super on its own but will be great to layer over a shirt too.” A customer who went for the green version said that “it brightens up denim beautifully!”.
The top comes in sizes extra-small to extra-large, to fit UK 8 to 22. One reviewer wrote that they “sized up for a loose fit”. Another was pleased with the fit, praising it for being “not too clingy or bulky”.
One shopper said that they liked their purchase but “it would have been even better to have had some natural fibre content”. Anyone after a 100% wool vest could try this merino and cashmere blend instead, which is also available at M&S for £55.
