Stunning seaside town full of cute crafts is a must-see | UK | Travel

When it comes to exploring UK seaside towns, I prefer not to make assumptions about the place until I’ve experienced it firsthand. As someone who enjoys discovering new places, I decided to visit the coastal town of Folkestone in Kent.

Despite the overcast weather and low-hanging clouds, I was pleasantly surprised by the charm of Folkestone Harbour. With parking available right on the stunning seafront for a mere £10, the promenade offered views of turquoise waters, while a vibrant arts scene unfolded behind. Once a ferry port, Folkestone Harbour is now a hub for independent businesses.

Artists had congregated in the seaside town, displaying their photography, sketches, paintings, and street art.

Craftspeople showcased their handmade clothing, personalised gifts, jewellery, and pet accessories at various stalls

Moreover, there was an impressive array of food trucks offering pizza, burgers, cheese, baked goods, ice cream, and fudge, providing plenty of options for a bite while browsing.

And, it’s worth mentioning, there were also stalls where you could grab a refreshing drink or two as you perused the wares.

In what might have been a stroke of good fortune, the band Gentlemen of Few began their performance just as my boyfriend and I strolled along the pier.

Positioned between keen fishermen and an enthusiastic crowd cheering for the band, I found myself grinning as I soaked up the delightful atmosphere.

Continuing our adventure, we enjoyed a brisk walk along the beachfront before venturing into the Creative Quarter nestled within the town. Located on a charming uphill cobbled street, the Creative Quarter boasted art galleries, independent shops and bakeries.

To cap off our delightful day trip, we embarked on a 15-minute drive to the White Cliffs of Dover for a picturesque circular walk. I was thoroughly charmed by this small slice of the Kent coast, and I’m certain I’ll be returning.
