Inside the world’s biggest cruise ship with room for 7,950 passengers | Travel News | Travel

Incredible video images reveal the staggering scale of a towering cruise ships that shares the title of the world’s largest, and which can accomodate some 7,950 people. Popular YouTube channel Supercar Blondie managed to get some time to explore the vast Icon of the Seas, which cost a whopping £1.5 billion ($2 billion) to build.

Operated by Royal Caribbean, the ship has a gross tonnage of 248,663 making five times the size of the Titanic. According to the channel the boat is 1,196 feet long, meaning it would be taller than the Eiffel Tower if facing skyward vertically.

Sergi and Alex, who present the YouTube channel, got the chance to walk through the colossal seaborne city before hordes of passengers came aboard, giving a sense of the towering magnitude of its construction.

In the video, they walked through the ship’s own “Central Park” which is said to have more than 30,000 plants. Sergi noticed there’s bird sounds being piped through to make you feel like you’re in nature.

Sergi showed off the incredible accommodation on offer, including chic high-end apartments, and family-friendly apartments – with one that has its own slide from the floor above.

The Icon of the Seas is a mind-blowing 20 decks tall, with 18 dedicated to guests. It contains 2,805 staterooms and can accommodate just over 5,600 passengers at full capacity. A crew of 2,350 to keep everything running smoothly.

The extraordinary vessel is home to the biggest waterpark on a boat ever, and the largest pool on a ship, measuring 5,813 square foot, Alex says.

It has various other extraordinary attractions, including mini golf and a full-size sports court, among many others.

The ship made its maiden voyage on January 27, 2024, setting sail from PortMiami in the United States.

The vessel was the first of Royal Caribbean’s two Icon-class vessels. The second, The Star of the Seas, was delivered earlier this year and is also said to be the biggest in the world.
