The ‘perfect’ UK road trip with seven beautiful coastal stops | UK | Travel
A travel influencer has shared her perfect way to take in the spectacular Cornwall coastline, but not everyone agrees.
Char, the creator behind TikTok account CJ Explores alongside her husband Cory, outlined their road trip itinerary in a viral clip.
The route encompasses a different town or village across North Cornwall for each day of the seven-day trip, offering a diverse and action-packed schedule for holidaymakers.
The duo describe their itinerary as the “Cornwall road trip you have to do ONCE in your life”.
The road trip showcases some of the county’s most stunning destinations. Beginning at Boscastle, the expedition incorporates locations such as Tintagel and Mother Ivey’s Bay before concluding at Newquay.
Following a visit to Tintagel on the second day, the influencers recommend travelling to Port Isaac before continuing to Padstow. The next destination is Mother Ivey’s Bay, followed by Constantine Bay and Bedruthan Steps prior to reaching the ultimate stop.
Followers have enthusiastically saved the recommendations, with numerous users praising Cornwall’s appeal. One user remarked: “I was very lucky to go to Cornwall every weekend as a child with my parents, and it is one of the most beautiful places.”
Another appeared to have tested the itinerary, commenting: “Just done it on my motorbike with my son. Beautiful part of the world.”
Additional users proposed alternative destinations to explore, such as St Michael’s Mount and Kynance Cove. However, numerous commenters shared identical sentiments about one particular spot Char and Cory had suggested.
A blunt comment from one viewer simply said: “Don’t come to Padstow”, a sentiment echoed by others. Another user replied: “We drove through it was the busiest place we went to last week.
“Must be such a nightmare being local, feel for you. It was a ridiculous amount of tourists.”
Whilst others remarked on Padstow’s stunning scenery, the exasperation felt by residents is unmistakable. The town’s soaring appeal amongst holidaymakers has triggered a property crisis.
Numerous locals struggle to purchase homes as excessive tourism drives up prices or converts dwellings into holiday rentals. According to Rightmove, the typical cost of a property reached almost £700,000 as of March.
Though this challenge affects much of Cornwall, Padstow faces the threat of transforming into a “ghost village” during off-peak periods. Properties remain vacant throughout winter months as visitors purchase secondary homes in the settlement that they occupy solely during warmer seasons.
