A new ranking has announced the 50 best bars in the world for 2025, with four of the best being located in London. Topping the list was Bar Leone in Hong Kong, with Mexico City’s Handshake Speakeasy coming in second, but you won’t have to look too far down the list to find the UK represented. In fifth place was Tayēr + Elementary, London, which was closely followed in sixth by another London bar, The Connaught.

The ranking, which was recently shared by Condé Nast Traveller, includes two more London-based bars, with Satan’s Whiskers in 21st place and Scarfes Bar in 31st. New York also appeared four times on the list, but overtook London to be named the ‘mixology capital of the world’ in the full 100, appearing on the list eight times – with London’s total going up to six.

It’s easy to see why these bars have topped the list when looking at TripAdvisor reviews. One visitor to Tayēr + Elementary wrote: ” Great experience! This is one of the best cocktail bars in the world. Friendly staff, nice service, awesome drinks, I will definitely comeback.”

While another added: “We went on a Tuesday so only Elementary was open (the front bar). Dog friendly and great service. The 4 cocktails we tried were very good considering they were bottled/on tap (pre made).

“Balanced, strong, clean. Very good! The oysters stole the show. Get the oysters. Incredible.”

And a visitor to The Connaught wrote: “As a guest of The Connaught it was such a treat to have The Connaught Bar as one of our spots for pre-dinner drinks or a night cap.

“Polished service, professional & knowledgeable servers, and a vibrant atmosphere. If you fancy yourself a proper martini, look no further.”

With a second writing: “We had a drink here after dinner. A top bar and a lovely space to end our evening. The service is excellent, the atmosphere is Chic, extravagant, and fascinating.”
